[ Focus Mk3 Hatch ] O/S DRIVER HEAT WINDSCREEN FAULT

Featured Replies

I got fitted windscreen including auto dim rear view mirror and auto headlight as both are working.

So, everytime when the windscreen misted and I turn on the heated windscreen or quickclear not sure which suitable name is, for reason that passenager side or left side as fuse diagram language show working but driver side or right side failing to working as reminding to misted up, which is it's bothering me so much.

I did check google but they are most topic relation to common fault Mk2 rather than Mk3 as both may different. I check and swapped fuse 14 and 16 under engine bay fuse box but they are not blown and driver side still misted/fogged.
I was wonder if the chipped that centre and more driver side can cause that driver side heating to be stopped working? I could be wrong pinpointed location or maybe there hiding faulty wires?

I don't mind to claim via my insure as I had protected no claim bonus, but I wonder how much new windscreen if they are faulty?

they are split left and right sides (separate connections in the bottom corners - the huge silly plastic junk tray around the wipers lifts off easily and they are easy to reach)

she had a new screen and the elements were mostly dead on the left side - covered under warranty, (bod here said auto-glass cover and they did no issues) - when they fitted a new one, the guy said the wires at the screen end were a bit wobbly on the left when he changed it

you'll have a nightmare getting them to fit the correct screen as the chassis number says it has the non dimming screen....

What kind wiring I am looking at?

two 6 inch long floppy wires with a small multiplug - I wasn't really looking I was hovering up all the glass from the last fool that did it badly

Update:

Turned out whose worked on wiper area (likely as windscreen is original branded), as completed forgotten connected! Basically it was disconnected of whole time.
Wasn't that fun with tight space without removing wiper panel as my hand bit cramped up but managed re-connected it and hopefully it will working again. lol

So, if someone done fidding wiper motor or windscreen whatever is underneath of plastic wiper trim, CHECK with the connection! The vented trim should easy removed for better vision inside.

Unfortunately bad news, it’s didn’t resolve!

As weather is dark and cold enough to mist up the windscreen to test function.

I still having driver side half cleared as same issues before that I stated earlier, as I rechecked the fuse and didn’t popped anything during reconnecting it. As I feel the cable it’s felt like nothing broken wiring?!

is stone chipped cause stopped working?IMG_3867.thumb.jpeg.bdad51b8b1f75e6229303a29a17f107e.jpeg

As further testing using my power probe that connect earth and prode to live as the light will lit up as meaning the circit are funtionally. Sadly as I probe the connection that between windscreen and input of live from switch as the circuit of heating windscreen are worked as the probe had lit up meaning that my windscreen only last piece are failure as it's need replacing.
