Car not starting HELP PLEASE !

Featured Replies

Hi everyone

I am stranded at work as my Car is not starting.

The Battery was running low as I have been inside the Car and when I went to connect my Battery jumper pack did I mistakenly connect the leads the wrong way around and got a big boom kind of sound.

The Battery Jumper pack no longer works but thankfully do I have a Battery charger on me which I used to get the Battery up to charge.

The Car is however now not starting at all and not even showing any warnings, I put my foot on the clutch and press the start button and nothing happends.

I checked the inside and under Bonnet fuses but could not find any blown ones.

Can anyone advise what else it could be and what I can check for ?

Thank you for your help

Think you're gonna need to put your RAC/AA membership to good use. Let us know how you get on...

hopefully it's a fuse you've not found yet but can't help but wonder what would've caused a boom sound.... 🤔

yes im calling AA tomorrow, I checked all fuses and think the boom may have been the jump starter pack.

That would be very unusual as almost all Jump Start Packs are reverse polarity protected and don't turn on if they detect that the leads are the wrong way round.

ah okay well the jump starter pack completly died and I am now able to recharge it.

I also noticed that the fuel needle is not moving at all when I press the start button on the dash.

There was one  fuse under the Bonnet that was fried which I replaced but still no luck.

The lights come on the dash but nothing happends when I push the start button with my foot on the clutch.

I sort of tested the relays using a multimeter which all seemed fine but I might just try replacing them anyways.

I managed to get a lift Home from a friend and getting a Taxi back to work tomorrow morning at 4:30am.

Let me know if anyone has anymore suggestions please.

Thank you all

Is it worth saying what fuse it was and what it feeds that had popped?

Under the bonnet blue fuse

15A Powertrain control module (PCM), high and low speed cooling fan
