Aircon compressor replacement

Featured Replies

Trying to source a replacement aircon compressor for a 2-litre non-turbo petrol version.  I have heard that Mahle is the brand used in the original equipment but can anyone confirm?  I have also heard that it's wise to replace the condenser at the same time - any opinions?  Merry Christmas everyone!

I generally only replace the condenser if/when it goes faulty. Not sure what is 'wise' to replace a perfectly working one...

The story goes that a failing condenser can damage the compressor by depositing bits of debris in it, thereby being the cause of the compressor problem.  I have also heard that compressors usually last a long time/mileage, but in my case it has failed at 55k miles.
