Engine Fan Relay

Featured Replies

Hi,

I have Fiesta Mk6 Hatchback 2016, the engine fan wont turn off whilst the vehicle is running. The fan has since developed a vibration so I have ordered replacement, this will be it's second fan. I wonder if the fan running constantly is a possible cause for excessive wear/damage.

The question I have is should the engine fan have a relay in the engine compartment fuse box - which according to the manual is relay R7; however, this relay is missing/not present. Should there be a relay here? I wondered if there was and it was something the mechanics mistakenly removed/didnt return when replacing the first engine fan; and would this missing relay be the cause for the fan to be constantly running?

Cheers

That could be the fault.  Does your handbook show another relay for the high speed fan?

That would be a Mk7 or even a Mk7.5 Fiesta, but not a Mk6.

The relay is not used/fitted on all models. Perhaps it is dependent on weather you have manual A/C or fully auto climate control.

I can get the Ford schematics for your car if that will help.
