2019 galaxy gear box oil change

Featured Replies

Hello everyone I have a 2019 2l Ecoblue and would like to change the gearbox oil, is this advisable to do at 58k Miles? Also can I do it on my driveway at home, or is it better to have it done at a garage on a ramp etc?

happy new year all

If this is a manual and it is recommended by Ford then definitely needs doing (may or may not be easy at home depending on position of drain and level plugs)

From my experience, manual gearboxes don't need regular changes and, in fact, the Extreme Pressure additives which chemically machine the surfaces smooth during the early life, would carry on that process, perhaps unnecessarily?

If Powershift then I'll come back with my personal suggestions...(I can't wait!😉

Thanks mate i know manufacturers say sealed for life etc but it would be peace of mind getting it done, on the millers website it says the box takes 1.55l - 1.75l of mtf 75w

the gearbox is manual

I had mine done on its last service this time last year @ 72k (6sp manual) so not to far off your mileage the gearbox oil was as black as the night!

after it felt a lot more smoother after the oil change.

my mechanic did advice however that swarf could move around internally before the job started as a warning but I had no issues at all.

Thanks Jim I’ll probably just get my mechanic to do this as my driveway isn’t that level but I’ll do some more research as I may be able to do it on my brother’s driveway which is more flat
