Various warning lights and heavy steering

Featured Replies

Hi all,

Looking for some advice, i have a 2015 focus Diesel that's all of a sudden displaying multiple warning lights

Abs, traction light, airbag light, handbrake light, red brake light, heavy steering, sluggish, park assist has gone, outside temp gone

always starts first time so dont think its a battery issue

Any advise would be appreciated

Thanks,

John

You need to measure the Battery Voltage both at rest and with the Engine running. just because it starts doesn't necessarily mean that it is ok.

It's the battery !!

You beat me to it John  and @unofix

Put it on charge for 24 hours and see if that makes a difference. Those errors could well be associated with low battery State Of Charge judging by other threads on the forum.

Where abouts are u john

Iam in Coatbridge and got the launch machine can tell the voltage and see what's going on for u

Can I just say, and throw a spanner in the works...

The last time I had issues which Forscan suggested was as a faulty steering angle sensor, literally everyone here told me to charge the battery - I wasn't convinced as my car only does long motorway runs (100 miles a day) but I duly charged the battery as requested, and it didn't solve the issue - which was solved with a replacement steering angle sensor.

Amazingly, since charging the battery, the keyless unlock has been more temperamental than it was before!

I would go against the grain and suggest plugging into Forscan first and see what the DTCs are, and go from there. It might well end up being low battery voltage, but it feels like "charge the battery" is the FOC equivalent of "turn it off and on again", which granted does tend to work, but it's not the only thing that can cause an issue.
