Focus MK4 losing IPMA calibration

Featured Replies

I have a Ford Focus MK4 MY2019. About a year ago, the calibration of the IPMA camera suddenly disappeared while driving, and my adaptive cruise control, etc., stopped working. At that time, I was able to solve the issue by recalibrating the camera using Forscan.

This past summer, I experienced the same problem, re-calibrated the camera again, and the issue was resolved.

Now, the calibration has disappeared once more, and I no longer have adaptive cruise control. The problem now is that re-calibrating with Forscan no longer works. At around 70-80%, a speed sign appears on my IPC, but at 100%, it disappears again, and I get the same message on the IPC saying the camera is not functioning.

Has anyone experienced this problem before? And how was it resolved? I hope someone can help.

If necessary, I am willing to do a software update for the module, but in that case I would like to know which software version I can or should install.

IPMA - Image Processing Module A
Part number: JX7T-19H406-CF
Calibration level: JX7T-19H406-CF (latest known: JX7T-19H406-CN)
Strategy : JX7T-14F397-AG
Calibration: JX7T-14F398-AE

This one.

Yes update the camera software and recalibrate.

Can you see the camera clearly through the windscreen?

You might want to consider updating the IPC and BCMii too, but be warned IPC takes long and is risky

@DaveT70 thank you, yes I can see the camera clearly, just to be sure I cleaned the windshield (as far as I could reach in the small hole behind).

For the update my question was if the "latest known" (JX7T-19H406-CN) is the version I should install because on different places online I read that you have to be very careful because it's not sure that this is the right version and it might even brick the module. I believe it has something to do with that Forscan gets the updates from Ford but cannot be sure what the newest version is for your particular model

If you are unsure then don't trust it, take it to Ford and get them to update and recalibrate it for you, should be no more than an hour's labour

....well after driving without Cruise Control and an IPC beeping like crazy every time I stept into my car 😉 I really had to try something. First software update from -CF to -CM went without a problem but I couldn't get the calibration to finish. I kept getting DTC .... (will edit later).

I tried to put firmware back to stock but at this time problems kept on coming.
So I gave up, and bought a second hand -CM module. Still have to recalibrate but it's working.

I think the module was bad after all.

Up next: some Piotrmod products 🙂
