Galaxy 2l ecoblue engine tapping noise on start up

Featured Replies

Hello everyone hope you are all good, we purchased our first ford in the beginning of September 2024 it’s a 2019 ecoblue galaxy and it’s in great condition with only 55k miles, since ownership it’s fairly “tappy” when you first start it up in the morning or leave it for an hour or less sometimes.

you can hear the noise mostly on the passenger side engine bay at idle not the wet belt side, I have changed the oil twice since ownership using the correct oil (3000 miles) to try and clean the engine ( I do this on all motors when I first purchase them) and it does sound better now but only when it’s hot. Looking back on the service history the dealer used 5w30 oil before being sold to me and I have been told on this forum that it is strictly 0w30 950 oil in the engine as well as checking the manual.

basically could them using the wrong oil have maybe hurt the engine?
I’m not a mechanic so wouldn’t have clocked the fact they had used the wrong oil when purchased I just checked it had full history
