1.4 litre eco boost

Featured Replies

Just wondering if the 1.4 litre eco boost has a welt belt the same as the 1.0 litre and should I avoid these cars because of it's wet belt?

Ford never made a 1.4 EcoBoost.

Ford has never produced a 1.4 ECOboost.

For the European market Ford has only produced:

* 3-cylinder 1.0 ECOboost Fox engine family (1st generation).
* 3-cylinder 1.0 ECOboost Fox engine family (2nd generation).
* 3-cylinder 1.0 ECOboost Mild Hybrid Fox engine family (2nd generation).
* 3-cylinder 1.5 ECOboost Dragon engine family.
* 4 cylinder 1.6 ECOboost Sigma engine family.
* 4-cylinder 1.5 ECOboost Sigma engine family.
* 4-cylinder 2.0 ECOboost (Mazda) L engine family.
* 4-cylinder 2.3 ECOboost (Mazda) L engine family.

The 1st generation of the 3-cylinder 1.0 ECOboost has 2 wetbelts (from crankshaft to camshafts and from crankshaft to oil pump).

The 2nd generation of the 3-cylinder 1.0 ECOboost has a single (from crankshaft to oil pump) and a chain (from crankshaft to camshafts).

Very early versions of the 3-cylinder 1.5 ECOboost have a sprocket driven oil pump and a dry cambelt. At the beginning of 2019 Ford changed this to a wetbelt driven oil pump and a dry cambelt.

None of the 4-cylinder ECOboost engines do have a wetbelt. The 1.6 and 1.5 ECOboost 4-cylinder engines have a dry cambelt. The 2.0 and 2.3 ECOboost 4-cylinder engines have a timing chain.

? Is this not chain cam drive?
