I have a 2012 1.6tdci and have had it from new.

It has self parking and sensors fitted all round.

IT'S BEEN A DREAM CAAR AND NO WAY  AM i PARTING WITH IT.

It does not have SYNC but instead it has BT Connect with speech recognition for hands free telephone etc.

What do I need to do to install Sync 3.5 etc. I want Backup camera and on screen Sat nav.

Any help at all would be appreciated.

Thanks for looking

  1. A big wad of cash
  2. Harry Potters wand
  3. A minor  miracle

That is not going to be an easy project if it is even doable. The fact that you also have "self parking and sensors fitted all round" just further complicates the situation.

There was/is one guy that might be able to offer some guidance (can't think of his name at the moment). Have you looked on YouTube for videos ?

EDIT:

The missing name is @Rowan112

SYNC 3.5 does not exist.

SYNC 3.4 is the most recent software generation of the SYNC 3 system. By using the Cyanlabs update method every SYNC 3 system can be updated to the SYNC 3.4 software.

To upgrade from the old Bluetooth/Voicecontrol system to the SYNC 3 system the following parts are required.

* 8-Inch SYNC 3 or SYNC 4 FCDIM modules (touchscreen display).
* SYNC 3 APIM (SYNC) module.
* Connection cable between the FCDIM and APIM modules.
* SYNC 3 ACM (Audio Control module) --> Some SYNC 2 ACM modules are also suitable.
* SYNC 2 or SYNC 3 FCIM module (fascia) --> Note that you will loose the lock button. This can be solved by installing the USA My Ford Touch fascia
* SYNC 3 USB hub.
* SYNC 3 USB bezel.
* SYNC 3 dashboard bracket.

Regarding the wiring you can either replace the full dashboard wiring harness or build your own wiring harness by modifying an existing SYNC 1 --> SYNC 3 adapter harness.

After all parts are installed the system needs to be properly configured.

Note that a SYNC 3 conversion seems to be quite popular these days. The result of this is that the prices of the required (used) parts increased significantly. I have seen people pay over £800 for the required parts.
