Hi Guys, 

The screen on my car went dark and looked like it reset a couple of days ago. I’ve gone to get in my car today and all the settings have gone strange and a few things keep happening: 

• 911 assistance warning pop up keeps up
• On the 911 pop up, an American telephone number to call for a service 
• DAB button has gone but been replaced with a CD button (car doesn’t have a CD player) 
• Climate has now come up on the screen 
• Navigation missing 
• When pairing with Bluetooth, the car speaks French even when the manage is on English (but it’s English US) 

I have reset it using the buttons as well as a master reset but nothing has seemed to work. 
 

I do have it booked in for 4th Feb for Ford to have a look at but was wondering if anyone else has experienced this.

That looks very much like it has been updated with the US version of the software.

Did the car do this all on it's own ?

Has the Sync system (radio) ever been replaced in the past with one from eBay for example ?

The American software doesn't have DAB so that will be why that's disappeared.

Yes the car did this completely on its own, it was very weird! No, nothing has been replaced on the car ever (apart from the tyres🤣) so it was really out of the blue! 

Well I think this is a first, but then again given the state of the Ford software over the air updates I expect we could soon see more.

Please call back and give us an update on what is said by the dealer (other than give me all your money).

I did have something similar (but not identical) in my previous Mk 8 after it had been parked up following a journey through a massive downpour/floods. Went back to normal after a few days and never re-occurred so never investigated further.

Could it be a hidden glitch? - the sat nav in my old SEAT Leon periodically reverted to a map of Wolfsburg for some reason. Or an over the air update gone wrong?

(Perhaps all our cars may do the same now the Donald is back in charge?😀)

Very random! I am hoping this is the case as having to wait 2 weeks is stressing me out. Ford said on the phone it sounds like a potential software glitch so lets see😅

Yes, will do! it's another 2 weeks until it's being seen too so hopefully it'll update again and fix itself before it gets expensive 🙃

I'd put this to the back of my mind with it having sorted itself, but one of the messages was about call assistance iirc (but not the US version!).

If it speaks French on bluetooth maybe it thinks it is in New Orleans.

So the issue has been fixed with a software update and restart. They still don’t know why it happened!  £90 down the drain but at least it wasn’t a whole switchboard change which they originally thought the issue was which would have been expensive😅
