Strange Dashboard Errors When Driver's Door Opens

Featured Replies

Hi everyone,

I’ve recently bought a 2011 Ford S-Max 1.8 TDCI for my parents. The car runs perfectly and has been thoroughly checked by a senior mechanic, who confirmed it's problem-free. However, there’s an odd issue I’d like some advice on:

Whenever I open the driver’s door, the instrument cluster lights up with all sorts of errors, including engine warnings, immobilizer activation, and other messages. The AC also turns on automatically. Once the door is closed, all the errors disappear, and the car runs perfectly fine without any issues.

So far, I suspect it might be related to the wiring in the driver’s door, a grounding issue, or perhaps a problem with the Body Control Module (BCM). Has anyone experienced something similar?

Any advice on how to troubleshoot this or what to look out for would be greatly appreciated!

Thanks in advance!

Better ask the senior mechanic, they said it's problem free. 🤔

My thoughts would be water ingress to the BCM.
