Poor infotainment system

Featured Replies

I have a 2018 Galaxy Zetec and the infotainment system is poor, if find it very shocking.

Does anyone have an aftermarket system installed with Sat Nav and/or 360 camera? Any recommendations on a good unit which will still work with the steering wheel?

While nothings really impossible, it would be hard to find a aftermarket system for the Galaxy, possibly the best way would be to look at speaker upgrades to improve the sound stage?

Or (again I’m not 100% it’s fully do-able) is retrofit the Sony sound system, I have it in my 2017 Galaxy and it rivals the B&O system in my Puma.

it has slightly less clarity via the speakers but the Subwoofer makes up for it 😂

While speaker upgrades sound quite enticing especially to rival B&O it wasn't something I had in mind, i feel i'm a little oldfor that now. 🙂

I was thinking of something aftermarket with Sat Nav and camera for convenience, makes life easier rather than messing with the phone all the time.

The easy option would be to get the unit that's used in the Galaxy Titanium X, it will be less work to change it over.

I was thinking more about this last night about things I have done to mine, what version of software are you running on your Sync 3?

I have updated mine to 3.4, I was originally on 2.2 then via the ford website updated to 3.0

3.4 adds tons of features radio logo icons smoother menu transitions etc and is a lot more stable and quicker plus you can get the most updated maps etc if you have navigation already.

yes it still based on the same system but its a lot more refined around the edges

Here is the link CyanLabs Sync 3 updater  there is a few ads on the site but they have been around ages and have a well established community.

With your link above the main problem is lack of ISO connectivity with the existing system. The “radio” unit fitted as standard is nothing more than a control panel which is connected via the climate controls below and includes the hazard switch

there is iso adapters available but you would have to find, splice and connect to every wire needed plus run cables for the camera system.

the non nav APIM does not have enough storage for maps but you can swap out that module for a Nav APIM and code it to work with your car which will add stock navigation but I suspect you have a non digital dash so I’m unsure if all the nav on dash features will work, but saying that I have a really weird spec titanium as it has a higher level of trim spec than a titanium x so it’s definitely able to be configured to work in different ways

hope this helps a bit

👍

Thank you, I have updated to 3.4 but not tried the menu yet. Will do that tomorrow.
