Seat belt alarm

Featured Replies

How do I deactivate the driver and passenger seat belt alarm in my 1.4L Fiesta mk7.

I have the V-linker ForScan diagnostic scanner for PC. I was expecting to find an option for seat belts in the IPC. There’s a very long list of things I can modify but nothing about seat belts!

Any ideas?

Get in the car close the door and turn on the ignition. Do not start the engine.

Switch off seat belt alarm by plugging in and out seat belt to buckle 9 time's within 10 sec. This deactivates seat belt alarm. To disable the alarm on the passenger seat repeat the process with that belt.

To turn the seat belt warning back on just repeat the above process.

Well that was a rather neat trick. It worked!

Have been playing with the Forscan tool today @unofix  No DTC’s except for a/c clutch (currently disconnected as due to swap out compressor tomorrow so that was a nice positive control).

Any ideas for some fun things people can change with forscan?

Automatic locking by speed - locks the doors when you pass about 7mph.  Saves getting car jacked in rough areas.

Reverse gear chime - could be fun, for about a day anyway.

Most things need additional hardware, cruise control for example.

Tyre pressure monitor might work if it gives you the option for deflation detection system (DDS).

Curious as to why you would want to?  Unless you driver everywhere without a seat belt on.

Or am I getting the wrong end of the stick?

Probably a delivery driver, in & out frequently, with items on the passenger seat ready for the next drop.

I gave this a try @TomsFocus.  DDS is an option in the drop down list on ForScan. I was expecting it to then appear as a function in the settings menu on the screen in the car but it didn’t. I read elsewhere the ABS needs to relearn the data so it can detect a change but when I tried to run that on ForScan is says ‘service procedure not supported’. Is this telling me my car doesn’t have these monitoring systems?

I'm not 100% sure but I agree that it looks like it's not supported by your ABS module.
