Dewalt Battery Screw Dimensions?

Featured Replies

Hi All,

Wondering if anyone has any ideas on length & size of screw that holds the case of a 5ah Dewalt Battery case together?

I got my hands on one with a broken top case so bought the cheaper 2ah replacement kit as only the top part required replacement. Turns out that all the screws are missing from the one I got a hold of so now stuck without the correct length of screws.

Was wondering if anyone knew what size they are meant to be. Figured it would be cheaper to buy the screws separate rather than pay for the entire 5ah replacement kit that I don't really need.

Link to what I am probably going to end up buying: https://www.amazon.co.uk/Battery-Case-Replacement-10-Cell-Cordless/dp/B0CN6S2SPK/ref=asc_df_B0CN6S2SPK?mcid=cceef3bb97e2374faf8627ef90da8b3e&hvocijid=15824506357091444636-B0CN6S2SPK-&hvexpln=74&tag=googshopuk-21&linkCode=df0&hvadid=696285193871&hvpos=&hvnetw=g&hvrand=15824506357091444636&hvpone=&hvptwo=&hvqmt=&hvdev=c&hvdvcmdl=&hvlocint=&hvlocphy=9180595&hvtargid=pla-2281435176618&gad_source=1&th=1

Considering I have the plastic bit I need I don't really want to pay another £15 for essentially 4 screws that I doubt are anything special.

Thinking even if there is a box set with various sizes of these screws I could get that as they'll maybe have a use down the line. Unsure what type of screw this would be called though being it has no tip, coarse thread & a T-10 torque head (not too fussed about this part)

Looking at the picture on the Amazon listing, they look like chipboard type screws. Can you not poke a piece of wire down the hole to measure the length required, and take the case to a local engineering supplies to get the correct size?

Done a bit more googling on this today. Looks like they are called thread forming screws specifically designed for thermoplastics.

I think they will be about M3 but I can't get a length that is suitable.

Plan is to stick something down to get length & then I'll possibly just check to see if I have a normal scret I can break the tip off & use. Other than hold 2 bits of plastic together it's not got to do much.

Don't really have an engineering supplier around me tbh. It's just the likes of Screwfix & Toolstation.

Specialists is probably going to far for what I'm needing really as they'd likely have a minimum order.
