I thought the MultiECUScan system was for the Fiat family of cars.

The vLinker people do dedicated different Bluetooth Adaptors for FORScan.

Yup, and these according to them are for ForScan. My Bad ! linked wrong one. Ok thanks for pointing that out. Just had another look and the only one is the Vlinker FS BT they works 100% with FORscan.

Thoughts Tizer ? or anyone who has used this dongle

The FS Series are the ones that FORScan recommended for their product, that doesn't mean that the one you asked about is not as good.

I use a very good OBDLink Bluetooth one that was at the time I bought it one of the ones recommended for Programming as well by FORScan.

I haven't used any other ones.

vLinker FS is a cable connected unit not Bluetooth or WiFi.

vLinker FD is Bluetooth for Android phones and can be used with a Windows laptop.

vLinker FD+ is for use with an iPhone. It may also work with some Android phones.

It's what many Ford owners use including some Ford technicians.

Just taken a look on Forscan site and the one above is on their recomended list. Cable is alternative, but im not sure.

Be aware that FORScan only allows programming changes to be made via a hard wired device for safety reasons.

Use whatever you feel is best for you.

I repeat that FORScan does not enable programming changes to be made via a Bluetooth connected device. If you only want it for diagnostic or service purposes then a Bluetooth dongle will be fine.

The reason i posted the original question, was to find things like this out. It doesnt say you cant programme with the bluetooth in their blurb. So now i have learned that i need a cable rather than the bluetooth dongle thingy. Thanks for the info, thats why i asked.

So LiNK EX or vLINKER, equaly as good as each other ? one is £36 the other is £65. Suck it and see probably. I dont mind spending the money for a quality product BTW.

@unofix FORScan have changed their recommended Adaptors and the FS Bluetooth seems to have replaced the FD and FD+ for the Phone versions.

@Delboy777 FORScan will tell you when you connect whether your Adaptor is ok or not. They did this because some people were using cheap Wired Clone Adaptors, Bricking their cars while programming and blaming FORScan.

The OBDLink EX is quite expensive. The vLinker USB one is much cheaper and just as good. The reason why FORScan have temporarily stopped recommending is is as follows, not applicable to 99.9% of users. https://forscan.org/forum/viewtopic.php?f=4&t=28290

Thanks for that update. To be honest I'd not noticed the change for the Bluetooth devices. I wonder if that is so one device covers all 3 options.

I assume that FORScan are still saying to use a wired device for programming changes ?

I'll have to update my links 👍

I don't know for sure but maybe vLinker are phasing out the two FD ones for the FS one for commercial reasons.

FORScan used to recommend my now superseded Bluetooth Adapter for programming but that was several years ago. Now they only recommend the two Wired ones and don't mention Wireless ones for programming.

i dont know the answer to that question Tizer, however having read through that FORScan article ive decided even though it more expensive im going for the Link EX. Now for stupid question numer 345, can i link that Link EX to my laptop, using an adaptor off course, via a USB C Thunderbolt connector. I have two of them and 3x USB 3.2 gen 1 ports and 1x usb 3 port.

If you couldn't I'm sure it would be mentioned somewhere. The OBDLink people have a Website and also a Forum  https://www.scantool.net/forum/index.php    They will be able to tell you for sure.

For clarity the vLinker people only ever said that their product was for USB 2, they never mentioned USB 3  but 99.9% of people with USB 3 Ports only never had a problem.
