MK4 Ford Focus Sump Plug Leak

Featured Replies

Hi All,

First post here and can't find another related topic.

Just completed an oil service on my MK4 Focus 2018 replaced the copper washer (couple of times now) new one each time to save it being a bad one but it's still leaking oil small drop ever minute or so.

anyone had this issue before or even know the Sump Plug size of by heart so I could look at replacing and would it be worth getting one with a rubber seal instead ?

Which engine?

I didn't know there was a copper washer option for these.

Thought they all used the rubber gasket like this.

This could explain why the leak is still occurring and would make more sense and the previous could have just gotten lucky with not loosing any oil.

The current plug is an M16 would you happen to know the part number for the Official ford one ?

The one in the link is the M14 which I have tied one from a previous Ford with the rubber gasket and its far too small.

Just noticed that you are saying that the M14 is to small. The part number 2261879 is for an M14, has your car had the sump altered ?

I must have been mistaken if it's M16.  This should be the M16 plug & washer but we can't access Mk4 parts catalogues to confirm unfortunately.

Hey, Thanks for the update. These look far more suited to what I need. Just placed the order fingers crossed they arrive tomorrow and I can get to cleaning the drive up.

Thanks for all the help, part numbers noted for the next one

I had the same problem, I temporarily solved the issue by putting some heat resistant silicon between the washer and plug. I would like to get this done properly on my next service which will be due soon.  Did these new parts you ordered solve the issue?
