SMAX - Limp Mode Climbing Hills at High Altitudes

Featured Replies

Hi everyone,

Wondering if anyone has any ideas on how to resolve this issue?
Before I start I just want to say that 2 weeks ago I took my car into Ford Bromley London to get a recall issue sorted and they couldn't find an issue with the car)

My Car is a S-Max 2.0 TDCi (180bhp) 2015

The issue I have is that the car goes into LIMP mode and engine light comes on when driving uphill at high altitudes. I regularly drive from London to Portugal and back a few times a year and this happens when driving through the Pyrenes or mountains in Portugal.

I have an image of error codes that were found when I went to a local garage. (Ford is saying that they couldn't find an issue.)

I have no issue when driving in London or surrounding areas.

I will be travelling to Portugal again next month for a few weeks. Any ideas on what could fix this issue?

Many thanks in advance

Implies low pressure fuel system pressure too high? (very awkward to read the picture and reflection over 2nd code may be why you had no answers?) but those codes are presumably at or near sea level - still need clearing to see if they come back and are hard faults?

As usual, I can only reference 2011 2.0 163 which doesn't have a low pressure fuel pump.

As you state it only happens at high altitude, atmospheric pressure will be lower perhaps affecting fuel pressure sensor/system (monitor live data of low and high pressure systems, demand and actual when going across mountains but keep your eyes on the road!)
