Hi

 Can anyone tell me what problem is with niece car.  Has fiesta 1.6 auto, and it won't start, put key in turn nothing, lights work radio, except start noticed that the P is nt highlighted when key is put in.  When left for few days and put key in P is highlighted and it starts.  Niece drove it to Greg's today and it stopped and wont start again.  And P is nt highlighted.  Is it simple fix or big problem..   T.I.A

Not familiar with a car that new, but if the "P" is not illuminated,  then the supply to the starter is not made - on this model will it start in "N" ?

Nope dosnt start in neutral iether, dosnt display what gear it's in on dash shows PRNDS, when in park P is highlighted when ignition is turned on.  P was highlighted last evening started first turn of the key, done it like 5-6 times started everytime when P was highlighted.  This morning my niece took it to bakers and it just stopped. I don't know what part tells the engine that it's in park to try and solve problem.  

  I know without any doubt that it's due to ecu tcm or whatever knot knowing if its in park or drive.  

As I said in first message would start Wednesday I came over to see what was wrong last night started.  And I could see that the p was highlighted.  In the pics my niece sent me P is nt highlighted

Sounds like a possible broken wire(s) to the TCM.

Using FORScan may help to confirm that the TCM is not receiving the gear position signal. See the attached photos below of the TCM on a Ford EcoSport.

So today I decided to investigate the two connectors for the TCM. To gain as much access as possible I fully removed the airbox as you earlier suggested. Then from under the wheel arch I disconnected the 'Red' connector and pulled the harness and connector up in to the engine bay. Take a look at the photos to see what I found........
