however on these new "high tech" cars, it seems more involved

It's actually less involved than older models, there's no radio code to enter. Just a simple BMS reset which takes less than two minutes and requires no tools.

ah ok interest, no programming to the car? for my other make, I could of got some ODB reader to read fault codes and some had the ability to supposedly re-program to the car (not sure if any cost involved on top of buying the ODB).

I thought maybe the sync system would need some code/serial/registration to be activated again as would loose settings etc and likely have to repair phone and maybe even ford pass app.

Hopefully, I wont have to find out again.

Hi all,

So just to update, I've had a reply from to my email and they have looked into it and agree that the car was still in warranty and that the battery should of been covered so I have phoned them to give my details so they can refund it and the refund has now come through.

Thanks all!

Hi all, So just checked my car oil level and  it is a little above minimum, this is a month later after service so I'm not sure if they actually topped it up to max or not.

Just to confirm, this is the correct oil to buy right? It says meets Ford spec on the back. I see Halfords will also top it up for an extra £5, not sure how good they are these days as don't want oil over the engine if they don't poor it right 🙂

Hi Kev,

That looks like the correct oil spec, yes. If it is only above minimum, you will need almost the entire 1 liter. But don't pour it all in at once. Pour, wait, check dip stick and repeat until you are at the max mark.

@RaduF86Thanks, I was planning to put 3/4 of it in and then see, how long do I need to wait before checking the dip stick?

I'm going to try see if Fords have some tomorrow morning (will phone) if not, I'll have to order it online or order online and collect from Halfords, might even get them to do it if got to go down there, if they ok at doing this? Don't want oil all over the engine 🙂

Hi all,

So I went to dealership I bought it from, gave them the car info and what manual said and they brough out the oil, I was a bit surprised, I was expecting Castol but they bought out FUCHS Titan Supersyn F ECCO-B 5w-20 and on the back it says specifically designed for ecoboost engines and has the ford wss... number on it.

So i bought 2 x 1ltr bottles, I thought I poured half of it in initially as decided to do that and then check it the following week and add some more.  However, it seems i hadn't added as much as I thought the first time, so I added a bit more a week or 2 after and its approx. now 3/4 or a bit under that so decided to leave at that as opposed to risk overfilling if I added too much.

Going to check it in couple of weeks or a month and see what it is like then.

Think the car has used a little oil tbh but as I was doing it quickly and it isn't on 100% flat surface, its a slight angle, not much but is slight.

Will see how it goes.

Thanks

Kev

Nice to hear a positive dealership experience.  Many of them don't give two Fuchs nowadays.
