Central locking won't stay locked😡

Featured Replies

Hi all, so my smax has central locking but as of yesterday, when I press the key fob button, the doors lock and then unlock straight away. It's been to a garage who plugged it into their computer hoping to find some fault code, but there was only a code saying that the washer levels were low. The dashboard is saying all the doors, boot and bonnet are open and the courtesy lights are always on. The locks have been checked, the fuse board has been checked but it still won't lock. Anybody have a clue as to what's going on?! Thanks for reading this.

If the car thinks any of the doors, boot or bonnet are open, it will not lock.

You say it thinks all are open, not just one?

Yes, FORScan has.

You could use it and read the Ford specific DTC's and then you would know what the problem is.

So that's a main dealer thing then?

I wonder if this is a 'return' fault from the interior light.  Just thinking if that backfeeds on the 'doors open' wire, without a door actually open, whether than can be fooling the BCM into thinking they're all open?  Think I'd try unplugging the interior light as a quick and easy check, though that wouldn't rule out a wiring short.

I wouldn't be surprised if it is the BCM at fault though.  They aren't easy to test with a basic multimeter as they have electronic components in them, not just fuses and wires like the older cars.

My money is on BCM
