Ford custom wet belt via ford garage

Featured Replies

I have taken my 2019 ford custom in for its wet belt as its hit 7 years or 100k i was 7 years i called ford dealership and said i wanted the wet belt changing and how much would they charge, i was quoted £1350 but that was not including the oil filter ??? They said the filter would be £40 extra. I agreed and booked the van in, after three days it was done i had  the call to collect it, in reception i was given the invoice and looked at the parts list and could not see the pump belt, i asked why it was not listed and told the mechanic said the belt was in good condition and it did not need to take the sump off or change the pump belt, this amazed me as they changed the wet belt because of it breaking up. but left the wet pump belt, so if i had not said anything and took the van the pump belt would have had to survive 12 years if it was changed next service.( I find that astonishing.) So lets look at that Serious situation this causes, i am driving the van on motor way dual carriage way and the pump belt fails !!!  i lose all oil pressure and try to pull in. the engine stopes and i lose power steering and breaks, and it causes a massive accident, it is amazing to think ford cant make it a standard procedure to change the wet belt, and the  pump belt, new side plate, and sump, with oil filter,  as one package make sure you request and insist these are completed and ask for a confirmation email,

The oil pump wetbelt does officially not have a replacement interval.

Therefore quite some Ford dealers do not replace the oil pump belt when the main wetbelt is replaced unless the customer specifically asks for it or the oil pump belt shows visual deterioration..

I cannot believe ford say its two separate belts in oil that deteriorate and can block the pick up and possibly snap. They should be both changed at the cam belt change

i also had this reply from the ford executive total wast of time,
