ECU Conversion

Featured Replies

Hi I have a 08 ford focus 1.4 petrol and I currently going through an electrical problem...ive had the car 3 months and for the last month it was up in an auto electrician

When i bought it, it had to jumpstarted and was working perfectly until I got home.. as the car was rarely used ..so I replaced the battery then the next morning it wouldn't let me start it..the key wouldnt turn to 3..all the lights worked the lock button on the key worked it just wouldnt start..the car is imaculate inside and out..i was advised by my auto electrician that my ECU needs replacing as the immobiliser came active and its not recognising my keys and a few warnings came up on the dash ( transmission malfunction) (engine malfunction) etc..

So I was wondering if I replace te ECU can I replace a 1.4 ECU with a 1.6 ECU? He also said I've to get a clock.. key.. key receiver..I can get those for a good price but its on 1.6 focus ..(same year and model) just a 1.6 instead of a 1.4

And help would be greatly appreciated

Thank you

engine immobiliser - unlocking the doors with remote - or turning ignition key till light come on - all have nothing to do with the silly red light in the middle of the cluster that needs to go out so the car will start

check out PATS programming - sometimes bad solder joints in the cluster will cause the fun

Yes, it will be the cluster that is to be suspected as faulty first.

Don't replace, repair

@rd457 is our expert, he will sort you out.

Don't do anything else until you have proved the cluster is 100%

You can't fit a 1.6 ECU on a 1.4, no
