mk 1 2003 1.4ltr zetec se overheating

Featured Replies

Hi all,

I have the above ford focus mk1 2003 LX with a 1.4 zetec se engine. Runs normally , till it stops in traffic. The temp gauge rises to mid gauge and doesnt go any higher. However I get steam coming from under the bonnet .

When I have run the engine stationary I have found the fan also doesnt kick in, there are 2 pin holes in the plastic tank too:-

Do i replace everything?

start with the thermostat?

Is the fan linked to the temp gauge?

The coolant is pink is this right or is it signs the coolants too diluted ie was red?

Replace the expansion tank and filler cap first.

Next change the model year on your profile 🤣
