Kuga 1.5 ecoboost Engine replacement

Featured Replies

Hi wondering if anyone would be able to advise on this. My 2018 Kuga ecoboost started misfiring and losing coolant. Went in for repairs and basically been told they could replace the head gasket but this wouldn't fix the issue and ultimately I need a new engine (10 grand!) Have seen a few posts about the design flaw with the engine block that leads to this issue. Just wondered if anyone knew if, with a fresh set of plugs how long roughly would the car run before misfiring again. Or how long is it likely to go on if I was to replace the head gasket? Is it essentially just a ticking time bomb?

Many thanks

Hi,

If it's misfiring due to low compression then a new set of plugs won't make a difference.

New gasket will leak again fairly quickly, if not immediately.

It is sticking time bomb now.  Not worth just replacing the headgasket imo.  Either swap the engine or get rid of the car.

The block and/or head warps and stops the head gasket sealing properly.

Is yours the 150 or 180 PS, manual or auto?

Thanks for the information. Much Appreciated. Intend to get rid, just wasn't sure if to do it immediately or wait a little longer. Also didn't like the idea of inflicting it on someone else, shame they charge so much to replace the engine!

Thanks for the info. It's the 150 manual. Seems it's becoming a more common issue from what I've read.

It’s usually more common on the 180 Auto.

What sort of mileage have you done?
