1.6 TDCI 2014 - Rear silencer queery

Featured Replies

Hi all,

Need some expert advice on what I thought would be a simple task!

My sons 1.6TDCI 2014 (facelifted model) rear silencer is on its last legs. Ive looked under the car and its actually the original single piece running front to back with no clamp for the back box to centre pipe.

Thinking OK ill change the whole thing, but all the usual online retailers sell separate back boxes and not a 1 piece system. I purchased a back box and a pipe cutter - the exhaust company then wouldnt despatch the back box as they said its not compatible! Surely its a case of getting the back box templating where to cut the pipe and clamping? or am i missing the obvious ? Apart from second hand, no where has a full all in one piece system?

Hi,

They aren't sold as single piece because you'd have to remove the rear axle to replace it.  The official replacements are separate with a flared end and a clamp.  I don't know why the retailer would tell you it's not compatible.
