I bought a brand new Transit Custom van in 2020. Diffused silver. 

when it was delivered, the front bumper was a really poor colour match. I was sent by the supplying dealer to a Ford bodyshop. Different dealer, but in the same group. They agreed that it was bad, and booked it in to repaint. Just repainted the whole front bumper. Oh, and replaced a door mirror cap that had a blemish. (Which fell off a week later, because 6 of the 8 or so clips had been bent when fitting and was barely holding on)

Its now 5 years old, and I have just noticed that on both sides, the "new" paint is lifting away. You can lift a "flap" and see the original factory paint underneath.

I called the supplying dealer to ask where I stand on this, but they were pretty useless. just said "well, it is a few years down the line"

He suggested I call the bodyshop on Monday and see what they say.

Just wonder what people think about this

I believe the paint surface warranty covers repairs due to manufacturing defects, during the base warranty period of 3 years, so I guess they will argue they did that.

It does sound as if they maybe didn't do the preparation as thoroughly as they might, but as the repair has outlasted the warranty period by some margin, I doubt you'll get much joy. Certainly no harm in trying though.
