Mk4 Focus Battery Junction Box Fuses

Featured Replies

This weekend I'm going to hunt down a parasitic battery drain on my Mk4 focus (2019). One thing that I can't work out is how to check the fuses in the engine bay without taking the junction box off. I assume [perhaps incorectly] that to access the fuses you need to break the connection between the high current fuse box things and the junction fuse box thing. Or is there something else going on?

Cheers

Suggest clamp on meter as initial check on main lead OR for your specific question, measure mV drop across each fuse without removing:

The method (plenty on You Tube) appears to be latch all door boot and bonnet locks if you need the access open.

Car must be asleep (20 min wait, clamp on meter can indicate total?) then narrow it down to individual fuses with the chart.
How does that sound?

Impossible on the fusebox of a Focus Mk4. As the OP states (and is correct) you have to split the box open in two which disconnects power from many of the fuses.

I expect that he won't find a parasitic draw of any kind, it is unfortunately the actual design of the Focus Mk4 that they all run the battery down in only a week if not used each day.

Just as a matter of interest, what is a 2025  Ford Model: Nood Is it a replacement for the failed Capri 🤣

Again, sorry for my lack of recent knowledge but the rather stupid design and pathetic electrical system makes me more than ever determined to stay with Old Faithful for as long as possible!

Good Luck on solving that one then (although if it's 2025 the dealer needs to solve it (probably a joke from what you say, eh?)

Edit: My 12PM realisation that @MankyNoodle  appears to be working on 2019 (out of warranty) whilst profile says 2025.
Only other comment as not knowing the stupid fuse box design would be that a kit of connectors is needed to join the two halves whilst split so that each fuse could actually be investigated whilst powered up, or maybe not?

Apologies for not responding the best part of a year ago. I did find a solution:

1) Always leave the house with one of those emergency jump start things.

2) Keep a spare battery on maintenance charger in the shed and swap it out when the jump start thing doesn't work.

3) taking it out at least once a week like needy spouse.

No issues this winter.
