Motorola Edge 40 Neo - Is it any good ?

Featured Replies

I need to replace my trusty old Sony Xperia compact 😢 The operating system has reached it's limit of android 8 and each day more and more apps no longer work.

So I need a replacement ANDROID phone. The number one priority is the new phone must be as small as possible. I don't want 42" screen and thousands of other features that I'll never use.

I'm considering the Motorola Edge 40 Neo (operating system android 13, possibly can be updated). It's not as small as I'd like but seems to be "the best of a bad job".

Anyone have a suggestion, recommendation for a new small android phone ????? 🤔

Have used Motorola over several phones (last bought in 2017) Considering changing only due to lack of security updates which is annoying but all makers do it? They have been reliable plus ours appear to be pretty "vanilla" Android meaning no confusing tailored apps (Samsung seem to want to alter everything?)

Agree about the screen size issue.

Even the g series look good value with large batteries and ours still charge up and can last for a couple of days with our use.
As a brand, we have had good experience, they just work and are reasonably priced with good batteries.
As usual, that's all I can say, you pays yer money etc until a current owner comes along...

Android phones still seem to be getting bigger and bigger.  I'm genuinely considering an iPhone myself now as the standard models are still hand sized.  (16e appears to be designed as a budget phone similar to Android)

I've had a Motorola One since 2018.  Not really though choice, I've tried to upgrade it a few times but my vision just can't adapt to new screens, so I end up returning the phones or selling them on.  As with yours, many apps no longer work on it.  Battery life is fine though, I still easily get 3 days between charges.  (Charging from around 20%).

I tried a Samsung phone, cost nearly 4 times the Motorola at the time, and was disappointed with the horrible cheap backing.  It was like a rough plastic, compared to the lovely cool, smooth glass backing on my cheap old Motorola!

I also bought a Pixel 6A, but never actually used it, and left it too late to return.  Can't really remember the specs now but I might be interested in selling it if that's of any interest.

+1 for Motorola 👍

I've been buying them for quite a few years now, only ever had one problem when whatever one I had at the time got stuck in a 'bootloop' however it was soon sorted.

A couple of years ago I decided to try and upgrade and bought a Samsung complete with for the first time, a contract. I cracked the screen within a couple of months, got it replaced locally. Samsung released an update a few weeks after and it bricked the phone!

Back to Motorola again now 👍
