Smax 2019 automatic limp mode

Featured Replies

Hi guys. I'm new to this group and have a problem. My automatic goes into limp mode most of the time wen slowing down to 30 mph and mainly going down hill. ( it does it on flat road sometimes). I pull over and stop turn engine off and this seems to sort it out, also it will hesitate to change gear when going up hill and sometimes it sounds like a tank ( probably needs a blow out to clear DPF filter). Going down the duel carriageway it runs like a dream. it passed its mot in December and has had a new ECU recently. Any advice would be grateful. I'm a home care assistant and need my car working properly lol 😆

?? Which ECU?? There's loads

If it's PCM or TCM, ensure the replacement is running the correct level software

If you don't know when the battery was changed fit a fully charged new battery

When was the transmission oil and filter last changed?

@trisha73...don't be a OPW 😉

Hi. I had the same problem. Have you changed the pressure converter turbocharger? There are two of them. When I changed mine, the limp mode went away. Cost about  50£ each.

Sorry, this is an unknown part name (that device may operate the turbo vane position?)  to me and whilst replacement may well have fixed your problem  it's a total guess for @trisha73's issue which I'm certain she'll come back to look at, or not (😉)

Much better to get some fault codes and a proper diagnosis. - your choice

That's a standard boost solenoid.  It can be used to control a wastegate or VNT vanes where vacuum operated.

Well it's Thursday afternoon. Things are not looking very hopeful 🤔
