2015 2.2 tourneo custom aircon issues

Featured Replies

Hi All

Recently i had new air con condenser fitted then after a pressure test discovered a pipe was leaking so had that replaced ( along with 2 others as came as set of 3) re pressure tested all sweet as, so regased and nice cold air con front and rear! now have a weird issue ONLY  once air con has been switched on and been used you randomly get a horrific like noise sounds like grounching sound? it happens also once air con has been turned off BUT DOESNT APPEAR if air con hasnt been switched on at all for that journey!

now vehicle history doesnt exist when aircon system was last used??? anyones guess!

could it be the compressor being a bit grumpy from where its be woken up so to speak or could it be sign compressor needs changing too!! will try attach short video below volume up for it . ( cant attach video)

its going back in to garage tomorrow for investigation but wanted to reach out hear for any outside advice.

Thanks

G

Is it definitely under the bonnet?  Sounds more like one of the airflow diverter flaps inside the heater box to me.

Videos can't be uploaded directly on here.  But you can upload them to a hosting site such as YouTube and then link across.

(I'm temporarily deaf in one ear so not sure I'll be able to offer anything more from hearing the sound myself, hopefully others can though.)

FAULT FOUND

some how the power steering pipe had come un clipped ( dont know how, possibly knocked when aircon pipes were recently fitted but cant prove it thou) and when engine was under load the pipe shifted and hit the aircon condensor pulley grinding against it now it has a hole in it and is a costly pipe to replace, £238.75p from fords plus labour, The joys of motoring....

Ah, that's annoying.  At least it was easy to diagnose though.  Thanks for letting us know.
