Multi-Disc Audio Unit

Featured Replies

Evening. Yesterday I purchased a 2014 Smax Titanium, but it only has a Sony single disc audio unit (and no changer under the passenger seat). I can I do a direct replacement with something like this, or is it not that straightforward? Thanks

You can swap your head unit for a multi disc, yes.

You do realise that the single disc version can play MP3 files burnt to a disc, which effectively means one MP3 disc will hold more albums than a 6 disc changer?

I never realised this!  Always thought the 'MP3 compatible' thing was just a gimmick.

My one used to scratch CD's so I ended up copying the ones I wanted to use in the car.  But did them like for like, so still needed the same number of discs. 🤦‍♂️

IIRC you could get about 50 decent quality (192kbps) MP3 albums on a CDR or about 20 High quality (320kbps) albums

It's been that long though, it could be more

Yes thanks but I've no way of doing that and it's my partners car, and she wants old fashioned discs!!

So this would be a straight swap with no issues?

Yes, should be. 👍

There is a 6 disc Ford Sony that has MP3 capability.
