It is coming up again. Is it worth going back to the regular family MOT garage in the village rather than getting a random new garage to do it where I am at the moment?

I am reading that some are more lenient than others. Is it worth the drive back just for that? Well I will visit the mother for a day or two but that will be the primary reason.

Actually it is probably counter intuitive and possibly dangerous to pick one too lenient. Wouldn't want one to pass a road dangerous vehicle! However the family one I would feel they would give a fair assessment and give warns rather than fails for insignificant stuff while still pointing up anything that would be significant.

A new one may or may not do the same, I don't know.

Perhaps other considerations though like having a pleasant mechanic and sticking with what you know. I don't have experience with other ones which is why I ask if it is worth that extra trip, the visit to see my mother not withstanding. Don't want that to bias opinions.

If you're going to be living there long term, it's probably best to find a trustworthy garage nearby for any unexpected work that may need doing urgently in future.
