Fiesta Mk7 - aftermarket screen unreadable in daylight

Featured Replies

Hi all, new to the ford owners club.

Recently bought a 2012 Fiesta Zetec, and it has an aftermarket screen fitted already (Pioneer AVIC-F9770BT, picture attached). The functionality of the screen is fine albeit it does feel a little dated, however it’s completely unreadable during daylight due to the angle at which it’s fitted.

Ive tried changing brightness settings and the like to no avail, so I’ve ordered some cheap ‘anti-glare’ screen protectors which will be here next week, although I’m not expecting much.

I think my two solutions are

- get a new head unit which angles the screen down more so it’s not impacted by sunlight

- get a new screen which fits in place (although I assume it’s not quite as simple as just swapping the screen)

Anyone had this problem or have any other suggestions?

Thanks

That's really not very nice is it?

You could rip the lot out and buy an Android unit

It does have Apple CarPlay to be fair so it’s absolutely fine in terms of the functionality I need. I’m a complete novice with these systems, but I take it to swap it out for an android unit is not just a pop off, pop on job to swap the screen, would it need fully rewiring? In which case, I’ll just stick a baseball cap above this one 😂

Maybe spray the surround black?
