Focus MK2 08 acceleration/engine noise

Featured Replies

Hi all, started 2day, when I accelerate I can INTERMITTENTLY hear a hissing air noise appears to be coming from gas pedal

Has felt abit sluggish on pulling away as well, revved it hard when stationary & can hear similar noise EVERYTIME but coming from passenger side engine bay where I believe MAF etc is

Going to get checked 2mw just worried driving in the meantime - if anyone's reading who helped me with my cluster repair recently thank you car has been great & saved me a mint than going to local garage 👍🙏

Mechanic said turbo pipe had come off - put back on but has come off again - doors also unlocked themselves on way home after shutting engine off - recently had cluster soldering repair done

Which one?  Some have jubilee clips which can be tightened.  Otherwise it might just need a new pipe.

Have added a photo checked it myself today the pipe is still in there but it's loose and you can hear a noise when accelerating - the clip has already being tightened by the mechanic - was hoping it was just a new clip or some sort of seal that needs replacing not the whole pipe system because I believe that's going to be 150 quid

Still confused, you were driving home and the doors unlocked, after switching off the engine.

Door locking/unlocking is controlled by the GEM, not the instrument cluster. The GEM can be set to auto unlock the doors when the ignition is turned off. If this is just a random thing that sometimes happens then I would suspect water ingress to the GEM which is a common problem on quite a few models.

Thanks for the information I didn't know that I thought it was all controlled by the brain of the car the cluster - the doors unlocking themselves has been a random intermittent issue for a good few years - gosh electrical problems are the worst even garage don't like doing them they told me sparky labour is intense

There aren't any seals there but you should definitely try a new jubilee clip.

That pipe is only for intake air, it doesn't get pressurised, so I suspect the jubilee is weak and it's being pulled apart by engine movement.

I was thinking just to change that metal clip didn't know it was called a jubilee clip but its a bit tricky to deal with myself with a dodgy lower back problem - garage setting they would look at it Monday morning - quite a bit of gap as you can see from the photo my thinking is a clip isn't going to be good enough to tighten all that up - I've rotated photo and reposted...thanks tom 👍

Any idea what size jubilee clip?? I'm going to try putting one on myself rather not spend 150 quid on new pipe system and the headache of going to the garage and waiting there

One of these is a good addition to your toolkit, you can make any size you want. https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/381700698984?

Just wanted to say thank you to everyone who replied a three pound new hose clip from the car spare shop fixed the problem it's been running fine and yet the garage wanted to change all the pipe work which would of cost me near 200 with labour 👍🌞
