Ford s max 2.0l 59 plate oil leak and lags when acceleration

Featured Replies

Yes my s max has a oil leak. It's coming from the filler cap and maybe somewhere else. I can smell gear box oil too. Maybe a breather is blocked I think you call the pcv valve/breather.

It lags sometimes when accelerating. Any help would be great.

Thanks

If oil is being forced out of the filler cap, I would say the crankcase pressure is very high.
As you say there may be a problem with the PCV system including the valve, collapsed pipework etc.
There may also be excessive generation due to engine wear (compression test if you can't find anything?
The smell of gearbox oil (?) is a separate issue needing another investigation?
I don't know the details of the PCV system, sorry.
