Ford Parts -7 month wait

Featured Replies

Hi,

Has anyone else had issues with wait times for replacement parts in UK?

We had some rodent damage to the Wiring Loom in late Dec24.

A replacement wiring loom was ordered from Ford Parts + by the garage in early Jan25, and latest ETA is late july25!

Ford Credit are completely uninterested as damage was accidental.  So we are paying for a car we don't have.

It seems Ford UK think it is normal and acceptable to wait this long?

This is a widely reported issue across most makes forums and has received much coverage in the media.

Reasons cited include: Covid, Brexit, Ukraine, you name it, plus run down of ICE production in favour of EVs.

Is your insurance not providing a rental?

Yes, but it's very small and basic,  and not the car we are paying for.  This is ok for a couple of months but expect it will be 8 months.

Probably explains why Ford Customer Relations are so uninterested, I'm probably one of many

I've seen that some insurers are asking their customers to accept used parts to speed up repairs (and to reduce their hire car costs of course).

There seem to be quite a number of Puma engine looms in breakers ads on Ebay, for instance.
