I am new on here. I heard yesterday that ford have closed the order books on the ST Focus and the X models. And all Sensico leather seats finished up on all other models

Anyone  confirm this. I had it from reliable  source

Production ends in November, but I've not seen a definite stop on new orders. The "Build your own" configurator seems to be unavailable at present though.

When Fiesta production ended they built the last cars in batches to a pre-defined specification, so they're probably doing the same.

They must have run out of those plastic cows!

You have to wonder what the final cars will be like build quality wise as from what I've seen the Saarlouis workers were pretty disgruntled about the way the closure has been handled.

Last I saw Ford had no success in finding an auto industry taker for the site**, I think a pharmaceutical firm were interested in part of the site but not enough to cover the 4,000-odd jobs being lost. From what I saw, up to 2,000 might be able to make the transition to new careers.

**Hardly surprising when car makers are shedding jobs and closing plants almost worldwide - you don't see much about plant closures in China.

This is our go to when in Lanzarote in Jan.

German and Dutch media published articles on the 10th of March this Year that no new orders could be placed. At the same time Ford took the online configurator for the Focus offline.

At that time all remaining production slots were already booked. Many of the scheduled production slots however will be dealership stock vehicles. It should still be possible to make changes to a pending order so technically it should still be possible to find a dealership that already has the car you want on order and change the color and specifications to your preferences.


I would not be surprised if the production stops before November. It is common practice when a particular model is scheduled to be discontinued or replaced to end mass production before the traditional 3-weeks summer vacation closure. The remaining Months can than be used to catch up on production delays and to decommission the production line.

The Saarlouis plant is not fully shutting down. The production plant of plastic parts (like bumpers) for other Ford production and assembly plants is said to remain active to 2032.

I was also informed  that existing  orders of X line models placed months ago will not arrive with the leather seats. Cloth seat finish and a discount on final price.
