VIN Number format

Featured Replies

My Puma VIN number starts WF, all good so far. The third character is either a zero or a letter O. Everywhere I look says that VIN numbers don't contain either of these characters to avoid confusion. This all goes back to a problem I have with uploading a maps update log file.

Hope this is not in the wrong section.

Anyone any thoughts?

Thanks

It's a zero.

The Ford VIN number contains the following data:

Digit 1-3 = World Manufacturer Identifier (WF0 = Ford werke A.G. Germany)

Digit 4 = Body Type

Digit 5-6 = Not Used (XX)

Digit 7 = Country Code

Digit 8 = Assembly Plant Code

Digit 9 = Model (C = Focus)

Digit 10 = Body Type (Same as digit 4)

Digit 11 = Assembly Year

Digit 12 = Assembly Month

Digit 13-17 = Vehicle Serial Number

Everywhere I've looked says it's 'zero' and it's commonly used.

Definitely a zero.
