2013 S-Max: RH High Beam Mysteriously Cuts Out – Help Needed

Featured Replies

Hi all,
I’m having an issue with the high beams on my 2013 S-Max Titanium. When I switch the high beams on, both sides illuminate normally, but after about half a second, the right-hand (RH) high beam turns off. No amount of switching the high beams off and on again will bring the RH high beam back.

Here’s what I’ve tried and noticed:

- I replaced the RH high beam bulb as a sanity check — no change.

- The RH high beam will turn on again (for about half a second), but only if I turn the car completely off and restart it.

- I think I've checked all the relevant fuses, and none appear to be blown.

- I've also noticed that the headlight auto-levels, which makes me think it could be a grounding issue?

Has anyone experienced this before or have any ideas on what might be causing it? Any help would be greatly appreciated!

-D

Welcome!
All I can offer is the attached wiring diagram (if it is even the correct model):

In the olden days, the lights would be supplied from a common point but with the advent of bulb failure etc, it looks like they are separate. This isn't a case of water damage to the BCM, is it?
