I have a 2018 Ford Kuga. The car shows that it's overheating even though it isn't going up hills only. It's fine on flat and down hills. This means that driving up hill the thermostat goes very high and the power is removed even though my foot is down. I can stop and turn the car off and back on and the thermostat drops instantly.  Has anyone come across this before please? If so what caused it and how was it repaired please? My mechanic is currently stumped!

 

Any help would be very much appreciated
