Ecobooster battery issues??

Featured Replies

Hi

I have a 68 plate fiesta and have an issue with the following

stop start not working

air con blowing hot

boot not being opened with doors

i am under the impression it is battery related?
any suggestions help greatly appreciated

Hi,

These could be battery related they could also be separate faults.

If you can park near a 3 pin plug socket over-night, the best option is to try an overnight battery charge and see if those things start working again over the next couple of days.  (Won't always work from the first start after a charge).

Alternatively you could just try fitting a new battery, but that might not solve any of the issues.

There are numerous threads on battery issues on here which would be worth a read including this on the Mk 8 Fiesta:

Low battery will throw up all sorts of issues, stop/start probably most common, but also almost any electrical feature not essential to starting/running the car - aircon, courtesy lights, etc.

So a full charge as Tom suggested is a good first step. You need a "smart" battery charger for a modern car, such as the Maypole, Noco, or C-tek mentioned in that thread.

Also worth mentioning that the charging system in the car doesn't like infrequent use and short journeys. Garages often say "give it a good run" but a long run at steady speed won't necessarily help. It needs lots of variation in speed and plenty of slowing down/braking as those are the conditions where most charging occurs.

As Tom says though, if none of that does the trick it might be time for a new battery, particularly if it's still the original.

This looks like a nice one, not sure how it charges a battery 🤔

There's a village not far from me where they really do have a Maypole. Every time I pass through you've got me wondering if anyone's tried using it to charge their car!😀
