Short Term Broadband

Featured Replies

Does anyone know of a very short term Broadband contract?  Just for one month or two maximum?  Or will I have to buy a 12 month contract and then get a partial refund afterwards?

I won't you bore you with the 'why' but this is what I need atm.  (PS - My phone can't be used for internet tethering, need something that plugs into a BT wall socket.)

Don't need any 'minutes' and shouldn't need unlimited downloads unless some are extremely limited.

Depending on whether or not you need a new connection but my ISP does 1 month as an option then its 30 day rolling.

They are not cheap, but very good at what they do and may be better than having to sign up for 12 months and paying an early termination fee.

Thanks both.

There isn't fibre to the premises so I don't think AA is an option.

Mobile signal is also very poor here so I don't think a SIM type router is an viable option either.  (That costs £70 for one month)

Most of the others I've checked aren't available in this area.  Perhaps because they're all 'full fibre', though I don't see why FFTC can't be done monthly.

I've also checked a few early termination fees.  Community Fibre seem to charge a 100% early termination fee, although it's worded in a slightly confusing way.  The others seem to be around 50%.  Looks like it's not going to be cheap whichever way I go.

AA doesn't just do fibre. They do ADSL, FTTC, FTTP, etc.

I'm using FTTC (VDSL) with them.

They only seem to be offering FTTP for this postcode?

That should mean you have FTTP available.

Openreach (BT) won't let an ISP order anything else if FTTP is widely available in an area.

Give them a ring if you're not sure, they're a small ISP based in the UK and really helpful. No overseas call centre 🙂

Ok thanks.

I can't use phones and don't want the hassle of fibre being fitted anyway.  I did wonder why we've had so much noise and disruption from openreach around our flats lately.  If they're going to force a fibre install then I'll just have to forget about it altogether.

They have live chat and email too. But as good as they are, I don't know if even they can overcome the openreach restriction.
