So a little further digging.. my crank sensor 5v pin reads 5v .. the signal pin is 0.2v whilst ignition is on

Do you get an RPM  reading while cranking or does it show zero?

I'll verify this when I finish work tomorrow 👍

Showing zero. I've not go RPM reading whilst Cranking

That means that either your Crankshaft Sensor is faulty or the Wiring to it or the PCM is faulty although that is unlikely compared to the Sensor or Wiring fault.

I think the sensor itself is okay.. based on the fact I dont get a 5v signal reading at the sensor pin.. I get 5v live.. 0.02v signal and 12.4 volt on the ground return to battery.. so the signal wire to sensor isn't receiving a voltage. Just dropped the ecu out and about to try to locate the pins at ecu end 🫣

Are you measuring these voltages with an oscilloscope, or FORScan, or a multimeter?

With a multimeter and forscan. Trying to find a pinout reference document fod the ecu is a little harder to achieve. I've found the wires at ecu plug just not sure what pin they locate to right now. If I can diagnose voltage at ecu end that'll tell me if it's the wiring or the ecu itself

You can check the supply voltage to the sensor with the meter, but you can't test the signal from it.

You can monitor it with FORScan but to get an accurate signal measurement you need a scope

Okay so after a little help with a friend and an oscilloscope, autodata to locate ecu pins relative to the crank sensor.. and including removing the chance of an open short by disconnecting offending wire and running a bypass. We found the likely culprit is the ecu.. another ecu in hand.. so now Im solely faced with the 'immobiliser issue'

Can I download the immobiliser key somehow from my current ecu then load it into its replacement or is theres a relatively straight forward procedure through forscan to resolve the the replacement is fitted.. ive had a look into pats and it only mentions about key programming
