MK3 Focus AC condenser replacement cost

Featured Replies

Hi. I’ve just been quoted the equivalent (I’m in Sweden) of nearly £700 to replace the leaking AC condenser on my Focus 1.0 Mk3 . Price includes the diagnostic and regas etc, but still seems very high. Bloke said the part was £300 and non OEM condensers seem to be about £80 online, so it all seems a bit dodgy.

Anyone know the rough cost of doing the job in the UK?

Cheers.

Hi,

Condenser price is about the same.  £300-£400 for a genuine part.  Or £60-£80 for aftermarket.

Regas costs around £75 at the moment.  (Middle of summer, highest demand).

Approx 2 hours labour at £80 each comes to £160.

Thanks. Any opinions on the quality of aftermarket parts? So many available, any brand more reliable than others, any to avoid?

Most damage occurs when a stone hits the condenser at speed on the motorway, none of them will be able to withstand something like that.

My choice would be Nissens if available in Sweden.  If not, then feel free to post a shortlist and I can pick out my personal preference from that.

Nissens are available, so I’ll go with one of them. Labour costs p/h probably still a bit higher here than in UK.

Thanks for your help.
