Temp gauge problem

Featured Replies

3 years ago hit pothole (passenger front wheel) temp gauge went up/down. Drove home and next day fine. 3 years on going up steep hill temp gauge started going up and down again. Local garage said engine not overheating. Changed sensor and heater valve. Suggested taking it to Ford for diagnostic test. They said coolant pump (replaced) was worse. They then said thermostat (replaced) no joy. Had radiator replaced still happening. Had a sniffer test done they said yes head gasket faulty. Had that done apparently on 3rd test run he hit pothole and temp gauge moved again. Car has always been driven carefully, looked after, 60000 miles and VGC. Never failed Mot. Before had head gasket replaced drove it to garage heating on full and temp gauge never moved. Any ideas???? Thank you
