Sync 3 - does not complete map update - Key cyrcle required

Featured Replies

Hello!
I updated sync from 2.2 to 3.0, then I uploaded the confirmation file to the ford website, downloaded the map, the first part was installed, then I received the message:
"Key cycle required
The first part of the software update has been successfully installed. Please restart your vehicle at your earliest convenience to continue with part two of the update."

I turned off the engine/locked the car/left it for a few hours, the stick remained inserted in the usb port, but the restart displays the same message, it does not go further with part 2.

Can someone tell me what to do? or what is the correct procedure for "key cycle required"? thanks

Take the USB out, drive/run the car.

Stop and lock the car and let it go to sleep (10 mins+)

Start the car again and reinsert the USB, see if it starts again.

If not use Cyanlabs to go 3.4 with latest maps

Can you confirm you upgraded to Sync3.0 23219 and you downloaded F13 maps as "Map_26177537498_Update.zip" ?

How long did the 1st step (map update) last ? About 35 minutes ?

I'd let the USB sitting for 15 minutes and see if it moves on before trying anything else.

I think "key cycle" is just taking the key off and maybe opening the door for a minute.

I successfully updated the firmware to 3.0, the first step for maps took at least 40-45 minutes. I also tried leaving the car locked, it also took 30 minutes, I closed and opened the door, I did a hard reset on the navigation, I even removed the battery terminal for 5 minutes, but without success.

Is it your 2019 car that had Sync 2.2 ? Mine (2017) came with Sinc 3.0. I'm not sure how this is possible (I might be totally wrong on that one). You didn't answer my 1st question.

So you're still asked to perform a "Key cycle" ??? Not sure what's going on.

If you're confident with that and if this (GB5T-14G386-AE.tar.gz) is one of the files on your stick, try to save a copy of the "autoinstall.lst" and make a new one with the text between the two lines below;

*************************************

; Interrogator Log Utility (Ford Official version from 3.0.23219)

[SYNCGen3.0_ALL_PRODUCT]
Item1 = TOOL - GB5T-14G386-AE.tar.gz

Open1 = SyncMyRide\GB5T-14G386-AE.tar.gz
Options = AutoInstall

*************************************

See if the system reacts differently.

If yes, it should last 6 minutes and reboot. If this works, retry putting the original

"autoinstall.lst" and try again.
