Original parts/numbers on components

Featured Replies

Evening members

Is there a way to find out or track down the numbers of an original parts number on a component from when a vehicle was first manufactured , ie on a Ford Mondeo ?

Also, if these components are replaced say 10 to 12 years later , purchased  from Quickco - ford will the replacement components have the same number or a different number ?

Regards

Wolfbane

They have a tooling clock on some parts, an arrow pointing to the year and month of manufacture.

You can tell by the prefix (first part) of the part number too, but that just means when it was introduced, not necessarily when it was made or fitted

Thanks Dave

The parts in question are the Camber bolts and eccentric washers, do you know if they would have these markings ?

No you’d not find any markings like that on hardware like nuts bolts washers etc

The tooling clock mentioned above would usually be on plastic moulded parts then larger parts may have a label on them or part number included as part of the casting
