Seen youtube video of one guy showing the sump off replacement of everything - and I seem to remember he specifically calls out the failing vac pump it the first sign of wetbelt degradation 

if I'm not following things correctly... maybe the engine breather starts to draw in fragments of belt into the inlet manifold and then it all goes wrong ?

Knackered wetbelts do wreck vac pumps.  But I thought that was due to lack of pump lubrication.

I would be surprised if belt fragments were becoming airborne at all.

First things first. It seems ive cracked it. Replaced the boost valve today and took her a blast down the carriageway - twice. No code thrown!!! Woohoo!

Regarding little remnants of the old broken wetbelt in hoses, i have absolutely no idea what hoses it is i need to check / clean out?

Threw the code again today. Going back to garage. Im through with this thing. Plumb out of ideas.
