Temporary traffic lights, particularly multi way ones....

Featured Replies

Am I the only person who is sick to death of all the temporary traffic lights around ?

Just the other month we had a set on a road near us for a set of roadworks which took up no more room than a legally parked van !
Many people just ignored it and if they could plainly see there was no traffic on the other side (it was on a straight road) they just drove through. That shows how utterly ludicrous it was !

And as for multi way lights....
OMG !
On the way to the pool we swim at there is presently a four way set (one can imagine how long one has to wait) for a relatively small road works on the main road about 20 or 30 yards up from a crossroads and there are no sighting issues. In the good old days (and I really do mean that....) there would just have been a set of lights for the road that the works were on and the side roads would have to sort themselves out, which they usually managed to do reasonably well. Now there is almost always a set of multiway lights.

Health & Safety gone mad, and driving us all to distraction (and costing a hell of a lot of money)....

There is currently a set of traffic lights near my home on a road which leads to a roundabout. All other exits off that roundabout are currently closed, so you can sit at the lights waiting for them to change to green, pass the roadworks to the roundabout and then your only option will be to come back the way that you went, after waiting for the green light at the other end of the roadworks.

How they were allowed to close two exits from a roundabout for gas main replacement, one exit for footway repairs whilst having traffic lights on the remaining exit is absolutely beyond me.
